August 11th, 1998 (DAY 5)

The following diary entry was written by my best friend Lotje:

Was it the heat? Was it the wine? Nico and Lotje are most definitely back to planet Earth.
After having said our good-byes to Bruna (what a pleasure!!), we immediately descended with full courage the RLC mountain to Couiza. The August sun wasn't fully active yet, so all in all the descent wasn't so terrible.

Arriving in Couiza we wandered around a bit, looking for train- and bus schedules that upon closer examination weren't UP TO DATE at all., so we thought: 'What the heck? We are NOT going to Carcassonne!'
A bankautomate is still a little too modern for Couiza, so we walked on foot to the nearby town ESPERAZA in the afternoon, by this time TERRIBLE, burning sun. OK, after bungling for a while, we had our money. The party can begin! We thought...because those lazy French here, keep their siesta from 12.00 to 3.00pm
So we headed for a bite: "n'importe pas quoi", the food in Villa Bethania is not to be matched!
We planned to get back by foot to Rennes-le-Chateau, but the heat was unbearable, so Nico called for a taxi.
"What a luxury!"
