August 12th, 1998 (DAY 6 Con't)

A bit later we joined Bruna who was impatiently waiting next to the RIVER SALLES (yes! the one we mentioned a few days ago!)
We jumped in the car heading for one of Bruna's mysterious destinations: "La Source de Marie-Madeleine".
For some reason, I don't quite understand it myself, I got these STRANGE desires to strangle her whenever I heard the word "Madeleine" in the Italian accent, coming out of her mouth!
(Believe me, hearing the word 100 times a day out of the same mouth is just a tiny bit ANNOYING)
But there still is a GOD!!! Because thanks to him we didn't find the fucking "source de Marie-Madeleine"! :-)

At this point in time, Lotje and I had MORE THAN enough of the mystery. We eagerly were looking forward to returning to our regular lives. We had opened up WAY too much in RLC, talking for hours OUT LOUD on Villa Bethania's terrace about the most unusual theories couldn't have gone unnoticed. For some reason I felt that a force was working against us. It might have been the pressure we've been putting upon ourselves that I felt...but no matter what it was, It HAD TO STOP!
I wanted to quit with our research NOW!!

Oh, but try to explain this to Bruna, who cito presto wants to "forment une equipe" (gather a team)
of all members of the Grail Family.
My Goodness! What have I gotten myself into!!

After hours looking at landscapes that NORMALLY would interest me a lot (Bulgarash, Arques, Blanchefort, Corbu, etc..) we were SO very tired of Bruna and her constant raving on about "God knows what!" that Lotje and I had trouble keeping ourselves from bursting out laughing maniacally.
Just TRY to start a discussion with this "creature", she's adorable...as long as you think what SHE thinks.

Around 4.30pm we arrived "half mind numb" in Rennes-le-Château, where we (perhaps not all to polite)
said our PERMANENT goodbye to Bruna, with the explicit desire of spending our last day in RLC tomorrow in piece and quiet.
Rennes-le-Château, where it is peaceful, where we can observe the daily tourists and foremost where we can occupy ourselves with the more EARTHLY things in life.
It's safe to say that I can now call RLC "HOME".

And so, I'm now writing peacefully on the terrace of Villa Bethania, free at last from Bruna, hoping to forget ASAP this TERRIBLE day we leave behind us. (NOW I understand what Saunière meant by 'THE DEMON GUARDIAN'! *grin*)

I did learn today:
A mystery like the one in RLC is intense.. VERY intense,
like a CURSE you cannot escape.
The entire region radiates mystery, and whether you want it or not, it's the ONLY thing you cannot forget or leave behind you when you're here. THINK ABOUT THIS, before you decide to pay RLC a visit for a week! Whether you believe in the occult or not...NO ONE escapes from what I now understand
is the "Curse of Rennes-le-Château"...
