UPDATES
Jane has completed another Designer Diary entry on Gamespot, so go check
it out! The new website will be up in a day or two, and it will include
a new progress report from Wendy Albee, a new character, new team bios,
and most of the cast! Since you're our very special friends, we'll let
you in on it early!
MEET THE CAST!
Here's the voice actors that we have cast so far, and the characters
they play (if we have already announced them). More will be added as we
get additional information! Check the website for photos of the actors
and interesting tidbits about them. We have also included a sound clip
from all of the announced characters, including the newest character,
Victorio Buchelli!
Charity James (Grace Nakamura) - She fit Grace like a glove!
Sorry, we can't announce who is playing Gabriel because we are working
out the details of a special co-announcement. But it will be soon!
THE TOP NINE REJECTED TITLES OF GK3
We asked Jane for her brainstorm list of titles for the game before
reaching Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned, and she said there
weren't any. We didn't believe her, so I went through her garbage can
and discovered this list:

FROM THE PROGRAMMERS
Greetings and Happy Holidays from everyone on the GK3 Programming Team.
As you can guess we are totally under the gun to design and develop a
game awesome enough to be accepted as a worthy sequel to the Gabriel
Knight series. I have total confidence that GK3 will be one to remember.
Currently we are working hard at polishing up a section of the game to
present it to upper management. "Why?" You might ask? Its called
"Milestones" and every project at Sierra must go through it. Every
couple of months or so the development team stops what they are doing,
polishes up what new features they have and give a dog and pony show to
the guys who pay our salaries in order to justify our current existence
as well as the current project. I guess this is an important step in the
development process, but it sure uses up a lot of valuable time. Our
last milestone was very successful and we should be able to blow their
socks off again this time around.
As I look around at the current games that are one the market that claim
to be the first real-time 3D adventure game I wonder if they can make
such a statement. Looking at Blade Runner I am impressed by the movie
sequences, but that's not real-time. I play the game and I cannot see
what is around the corner. I can't get a close-up of the cook behind the
luncheon counter. I cannot examine the crime scene. These scenes are
pre-rendered and my character is 2 inches high. To me that's
disappointing. The interface (to me) is a bit too simplified. I click on
a speck of pixels and I've discovered an important clue. I clicked on a
computer and suddenly I've used my intentory to progress the story. I
myself would like to be able to think about what I got to do, not just
"click everywhere". Don't get me wrong, as I said, I'm impressed by the
graphics (3D polygonal movie scenes and even the backgrounds). I only
wish we got half the time to work on GK3 as they did on BR.
I am also impressed with Tomb Raider 2. The people at Eidos did a great
job creating a game, but Lara just can't compare to Gabe. Gabe has an
attitude. Gabe has Mosely. Gabe has a voice. In GK3 you will be able to
move your camera, inspect a crime scene, get great close-ups. Gabe and
Grace will need your help to unravel the mystery. They're not puppets.
Hopefully they will come to life for you. The adventure that you will
experience (and I *do* mean experience) in GK3 will have you wanting
more. Jane did it again with her wonderful mastery of storytelling and
walking that fine line between fact and fantasy, myth and mystery, good
and evil. Wish us good luck on our attempt to bring it to life and wow
the socks off you. As confident as we are, we're going to need it.

NEW GABE'S FAVES PICK
Kenn Stollery-Jones' "Mosely" website has been chosen as the newest
addition to Gabe's Favorite Websites. Check out his shrine to
everyone's favorite balding detective at

IN UNRELATED NEWS
Leonardo Da Vinci's Codex Leicester is currently on display at the
Seattle Art Museum! Even though this has nothing to do with Gabriel
Knight, it is a significant piece of world history. Everyone nearby
Seattle should go see it. For more information check out

NEXT MONTH
Next month "The Schattenjager Diaries" will reveal a major secret about
GK3 (unless Trixie and Craig release it first). Keep watching your
e-mail for the next issue.
